Copeland/Spode Jasperware Hunting Scene Tumbler

Mark used from 1850-1880

This tumbler has a deep rich blue Jasperware-look background color. The raised design is a sharp contrast to the solid blue. It is marked ENGLAND COPELAND in impressed block letters. This mark was used from 1850-1880. The tumbler is 4” tall, has a 3” top diameter and a 2 ¼” base diameter. The interior is off white. The raised design is an English hunting scene. Four dogs appear to have the fox, another is racing toward them, and a sixth is jumping the fence. There is one rider on a horse and another off his horse and opening the gate.

There is an irregular spot on the rim of the tumbler where it indents and the blue color is not even. It has the same glaze as the interior of the tumbler and I think was done in production. There are no other chips, cracks or defects.
