Orcas Island Pottery Fish Bowl

Circa 1980s

Orcas Island is the largest island in Washington State’s San Juan islands. The Orcas Island Pottery is a studio pottery located on the island. It claims to be the oldest pottery in the Northwest. It began in 1945 and is still operating today. This charming shallow bowl has a 6” diameter. It is a medium green glaze with specks of navy blue that appeared to have been air brushed. The fish design and the circle of dots are off white and applied with the slip trailing technique (sort of like you decorate a cake.) The back is cream colored and has the company name. This piece was made sometime in the 1980s. There are no chips or cracks.
