Camark Pottery Pure Corn Whiskey JugBrown Glaze
The Camark Pottery was located in Camden, Arkansas. This “Pure Corn” whiskey jug is 8 ˝” tall. It has a brown all-over glaze and the front has line drawings in black of four animals – a camel, a pig, a monkey and a kicking donkey along with words “Pure Corn.” We have no idea what significance, if any, these animals have. There is a manufacturer’s bubble just below the pig. There is an applied loop handle at the top. The bottom has CAMARK impressed, as well as an original paper label, identifying this as shape 201 and finish 19. The back of the piece also has the original Camark label, in the shape of the state of Arkansas. Part of a cork is still in the mouth of the jug and we’ve not tried to take it out.
