Rookwood Decagon Shape Console Bowl

Dated 1926

This lovely Rookwood console bowl is shape #2925. It is a decagon shape (10 sides) and was designed by Kataro Shirayamadani, Rookwood’s premier designer and decorator. The bowl has a diameter of 12”, measured across from point to point and an overall height of 3”. The interior of the bowl is a turquoise/blue, with deeper shadings of the same color in the grooves that form the 10 sides. If you look closely and hold the light right, you’ll see a few tiny pits made in the manufacturing, but there is no crazing. The glaze is not a matte, but it’s not as shiny as the high glaze pieces are either, it’s about halfway in between. The exterior is a white matte.

This is a lovely bowl, made during Rookwood’s peak production years.

Also see the previous item for a pair of matching Rookwood candlesticks in these same colors.
