Fenton Jacqueline Vase in
Pink Opaline
Made in 1960-1961
In 1960 Fenton introduced a pattern
called Jacqueline, in honor of America’s First Lady. It looks like rows of
overlapping petals. They also used three special colors for this pattern,
blue opaline, yellow opaline and pink opaline.
This piece is the 5” pink opaline
vase, ware #9153PN. It is actually more of a lavender color than a pink.
When light comes through, it has some of the “fire” look one associates
with opals. The base is 2 ¾” in diameter and the top opening is 3”. The
piece is pictured on page 317 of Fenton Art Glass Patterns 1939-1980 by
Whitmyer. There are what they call ash bits embedded in the glass, as
shown in one of the pictures, but they were in the making and do not
distract from the piece. There are no other chips or cracks.
