Tiffin Satin Canary Vaseline Square Bowl

With Open Work edge

Tiffin made many colors of satin glass in the 1920s. This is the color called Canary by the company and Vaseline by collectors. It is an intense yellow-green color and glows brightly under fluorescent light.
The diameter at the widest part is 8 ¼”. It is 3” tall and the diameter of the foot is 2 ¾”. It is shaped in a squarish fashion.

What makes this piece outstanding is the cut-out work or open work of the edge. It varies from 1 ½” to 2” in width as the pattern goes around the rim. There is a cutwork flower on each of the four “corners” and another petal-type design halfway between each. This type of edge is sometimes called reticulated. We’ve bought a lot of Tiffin, but this is the only piece we’ve seen with this type of Open Work. There are no chips or cracks.
